FORM: Upright and narrow. Densely packed upright branching
FOLIAGE: Foliage is reddish bronze when young maturing to darker purple
FLOWERS and FRUIT: Profuse clusters of single white flowers appear in spring before the foliage.
BARK: Very dark, almost black. Smooth becoming lightly furrowed
GROWTH RATE: Moderate
DESCRIPTION: An ideal specimen for narrow areas, courtyards or borders where space is limited. Will provide a profuse show of blossom in spring and highly contrasting dark purple foliage in summer.
LANDSCAPE USES: Narrow sites, screening, street tree. Roots are non-invasive
TOLERANCES: Prefers and will perform best in full sun. Prefers moist well drained soil.
TREE CARE: Pruning is not generally required.
