FOLIAGE: Foliage is dark green turning to dark red to burgundy in Autumn.

FLOWERS: The flowers are yellow-green catkins, produced in Spring, acorns appear in the Summer months.

 DESCRIPTION: Known as the Red Oak, this is a large spreading tree with a low-branching canopy. Deeply fissured dark grey bark is also a feature.

 LANDSCAPE USES: Stately specimen tree suitable for larger properties and parks. Excellent shade tree.

 TOLERANCES: Prefers a cooler climate and is tolerant of most soil conditions. Frost resistant.

 TREE CARE: Plant in a well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilize when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune tree when planting to encourage new growth.
