Royal Raindrops is a spectacular ornamental crabapple valued for its vibrant spring flowers, deeply cut purple foliage and sparkling red fruit. With beautiful colour across multiple seasons, it makes an impressive feature tree for gardens of all sizes.
In spring, the tree is covered in masses of bright magenta-pink flowers. These are followed by finely textured, deeply lobed leaves that maintain their rich purple colour throughout summer. During autumn, the foliage develops a striking combination of bronze, red and orange tones.
Tiny, decorative red crabapples appear from late summer into autumn, adding another layer of colour and attracting birds to the garden.
Royal Raindrops develops a balanced, upright-spreading canopy with strong branch structure. Its naturally attractive form requires minimal pruning, making it a beautiful and relatively low-maintenance addition to the landscape.
Apply mulch around the base to help retain moisture and suppress weeds, keeping it clear of the trunk. Minimal pruning is generally required due to its naturally strong and balanced shape.
